You need to change textedit to accept html files. Folium does not do this as best as I could tell. But now to make the map locate yourself! This was tricky.Next critical step is hosting the map.I was able to add links to my folium popup and put the links on github to display.The next critical step is correctly making HTML.This lets you zoom past level 19 but it keeps the map from level 19. To fix this you set max_native_zoom which is the resolution at which it takes the map even if you zoom further. But at some point the screen will turn gray. you can increase max_zoom to allow you to zoom further. This means you need to zoom past level 18. I wanted to make a map where we could zoom in really close to find our trees.max_zoom and max_native_zoom were critical.
